Memoriam – Professor Janet Parker

After initial being diagnosed with lung cancer and months of fighting the condition Janet died peacefully at her home with Terry by her side.

Janet was born in Stratford on the 23rd of June 1950 to her parents Doris and Frank Gallard. Janet had 2 sisters Doris and Sandra.

She had two children Dawn married to Iain and Ashley married to Shirley and 6 Grandchildren, Stacey, Karl, Jamie, Laila, Freaya and Georgianna.

She went to school at St Martins girls school. Janet had many hobbies such as swimming and writing poetry. Ju Jitsu is not included in that list of hobbies because for Janet it was her life. Janet went on as we all know to achieve great things within Ju Jitsu. She was instrumental in the development of the championship and refereeing criteria of the BJJAGB and her name and standing is known all around the world for her teaching. Culminating into being inducted into the BJJAGB Hall of Fame last year.

Janet was had an infectious personality and made friends everywhere she went. She was an inspiration to many girls and women throughout the ju jitsu world and a true Matriarch.
