Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Commitment Statement

The British Ju-Jitsu Association Governing Body (BJJA GB) is responsible for setting the standards, values and expectations for all members in relation to equality, inclusion and diversity. Ju-jitsu is for everyone; it belongs to, and should be enjoyed by, anyone who wants to participate in it, whether as a student, competitor, official, coach, instructor or volunteer.

The BJJA GB will ensure that it treats everyone fairly and with respect and that it will provide access and opportunities for all members of the community to take part in, and enjoy, its activities. Every member of the Board of Directors and Committees, employee, volunteer and member can be assured of an environment in which their rights, dignity and individual worth are respected, and in particular, that they are able to enjoy ju-jitsu in an environment without the threat of intimidation, victimisation, harassment or abuse.

Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy sets out our commitment and ambitions for ju-jitsu. We will work with stakeholders, member associations and member clubs to help realise our ambitions for a truly inclusive and diverse environment in the sport of ju-jitsu. Further, our Action Plan sets out key objectives and actions for the next five years to ensure we improve our internal structures and systems to promote inclusion and equality, diversify our membership and enhance the experience of inclusion and belonging for everyone to truly embed a positive cultural change within our organisation.
