Following a comprehensive recognition review, the BJJAGB is delighted to announce the positive outcome published today (21 May 2024) by Sport England. This review was conducted by Sport England in line with the Sports Councils’ Recognition Policy criteria, the Boards of Sport England, sport Scotland, Sport Wales and Sport Northern Ireland.
The following statement was published today on Sport England’s website:
“The Home Country Sports Councils will continue to recognise the British Ju Jitsu Association (BJJAGB) as the national governing body (NGB) for the sport in the United Kingdom as they now meet the Sports Councils Recognition Policy criteria”.
This recognition is subject to the BJJAGB meeting a number of conditions set out by Sport England and demonstrating our commitment to creating an organisation and environment in which everyone would feel welcome when taking part in Ju Jitsu.
Commenting on this significant achievement, Professor Martin Dixon of the British Ju Jitsu Association Governing Body, expressed gratitude for the continued support and trust bestowed upon the organisation by Sport England. He stated, “We are immensely proud to receive this confirmation from Sport England, which recognises the dedication and hard work of everyone involved in British Ju Jitsu. This reaffirmation underscores our commitment to promoting Ju Jitsu and fostering a culture of inclusivity, excellence, and sportsmanship within our community. We look forward to continuing to work with Sport England in furthering our work for the benefit of everyone involved in Ju Jitsu.”
